ATSUM for State Shutdown if its Arrested Leaders are not Released before 2PM
Imphal, 25 November (TP): The All Tribal Students Union Manipur (ATSUM) has issued a strong caution to the State Government of Manipur for arresting their leaders at Nungba at 11:30PM on 24 November by Manipur Police.
Biren Singh, Chief Minister of Manipur
The Students body stated that “this act of aggression led by the present government against democratic agitation has seriously created complete chaos and painted Manipur as a totalitarian form of government. The whole tribal populace will not succumb to such repressive tactics to deny the constitutional rights of the tribal but will rise and stand firm with our legitimate demands.”
Further the students body advised that the arrested leaders be immediately released before 2PM, 25 November (Thursday), failing which the students body and its federating units will be compelled to take up strongest form of public agitation with total shutdown in the State, and the government shall be held responsible for any law and order breakdown.
Technically, government of Manipur will have to decide its decision in one and half hour from now (time of filing this report) either to bend to the condition set by ATSUM or ignore it to face further agitation warned by the ATSUM.
