Biswajit Ditched, Biren Recrowned Chief Minister Seat

N Biren Singh, Chief Minister of Manipur

Imphal, March 20 (This Politics): The contention for Chief Minister’s seat in Manipur between Th. Biswajit Singh and N Biren Singh of BJP has been dragged on for more than 10 days since the time Manipur Election was clean swept by the BJP. Biswajit and Biren had made two consecutive trips to Delhi in 5 days on the call of central BJP leadership to sort the matter out. Finally, in the presence of BJP top leadership, Nirmala Sitharaman has pronounced their final decision today.

Sitharaman stated that Biren Singh is currently the seating Chief Minister (caretaker Chief Minister) and the newly elected Legislative Assembly members (of Manipur BJP) have unanimously chosen him as the leader of the legislative party of the BJP Manipur Pradesh.

In other words, N Biren Singh has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Manipur for the second term ditching Th. Biswajit Singh who has been his strongest contender.

The question remains as to whether or not Biswaji has agreed to it willingly or under party pressure, will tell us different story in a matter of days.
