ENPO for All Nagas; Dissociate from 14 Tribes Council
“In the interest of unity within the six tribes, the ENPO shall represent on any common issue-based Naga tribes meeting in consultation with the six tribal bodies under ENPO. Hence, any member(s) from the six tribes holding any post in the 14 Naga tribes should withdraw from the same”, reads ENPO’s directives.
Dimapur, 11 November (TP): In an emergency meeting of the Central Executive Council (CEC) of the Eastern Naga People’s Organization (ENPO) held in Dimapur on 9th November, several resolutions have been adopted in regards to the ongoing development of the 14 Tribes Council of Nagaland Naga tribes.
The emergency meeting resolved to reaffirm the 2007 Resolutions of the ENPO that says, “ENPO shall support the unification of all Nagas regardless of territorial demarcation.” It resolved to extend its full support for a unified, transparent and honourable Naga Political Solution. By ‘unified’, they mean the unification of all NPGs i.e., based on ENPO slogan “unity first, solution second.”
They further resolved and issued directive that in the interest of unity within the six ENPO tribes, the ENPO shall represent on any common issue-based Naga tribes meeting in consultation with the six tribal bodies under ENPO. Hence, any member(s) from the six tribes holding any post in the 14 Naga tribes should withdraw from the same. It states that the six tribes under ENPO shall not participate in the formation of 14 Naga Tribes Forum/ Body as proposed.
The Eastern body even resolved that Eastern Nagaland Gaon Bura Union (ENGBU) be strengthened, and directed the six eastern tribes to ask their respective GBs to detach from Nagaland Gaon Bura Federation (NGBF), so to remain under the banner of ENGBU for the welfare of the Eastern Nagaland.
