Imphal, 22 November (TP): It was reported that Mr. Conrad Sangma was visiting Manipur to campaign for the upcoming Manipur Assembly election to be held in 2022. Accordingly, the NPP President stated that Government of Meghalaya had sent a message to the Manipur government; probably for security arrangement.
The NPP President stated, “for this purpose, the NPP Youth Front organize flag fixing at the No Man’s Land at Keishampat Tiddim Road. This is the place where all political parties are fixing flags.” The NPP President added that at that time the BJP Youth Wing President Mr. Barish Sharma and other members of the BJP Youth Wing came and attempted assault on the youth of the NPP. It is also stated that NPP youth called the Suprintendent of Police Imphal West and the OC of Imphal Police Station, but they could not connect them.
Later on, the MLA of Keishamthong deputed his escort to rescue the NPP youth but even the MLA’s escort was assaulted by three civil dressed-escort of the BJP Youth Wing President Mr. Barish Sharma. The NPP suspected the civil dressed-escort to be Manipur Police personnels. The NPP further stated that escort of Mr. Barish Sharma also vandalized one Gypsy and Tata Xenon.
